Artists Statement

"My latest series of work uses Devangiri as a reference for drawings. Devangiri is the script from which Hindi and Sanskrit originate. The work draws upon my childhood experiences of arriving in Muzafferpur, Bihar, and the sacred meanings, tied to the temples, gods and goddesses, the food and landscape. Here the work questions, and even teases those 'sacred meanings' that is instilled in all of us as children. As I reexamine the beliefs I was told to have faith in, I look for faith, and wonder, all over again."
